One of my most memorable moments relating to a holiday gift was last year when I gave my grandparents a memory DVD recounting their life over the past 70+ years. I remember sitting in the living room with all my family gathered around and putting the DVD in the player. Upon hitting play, the notes of soft, memory-provoking music filled the air, and images of their childhoods covered the screen. The next few minutes took us all down a journey where we celebrated their young love and wedding day…their first child…their vacations…the birth of more children…and the fulfillment of hopes and dreams. We also remembered and reflected on the heartaches, the challenges and the tears that had been overcome in their lives that had made them the couple that we love and celebrated today.  As the video came to an end, we reflected on the great life that we had all just witnessed and looked to the future and all the potential it held for creating memories like the ones we had just enjoyed. As the last pictured faded out and came to an end, the music disappeared and revealed the many sniffles and sobs echoing across the room. I looked over and saw the look on my grandmother’s face…a look that I can’t explain…but a look that meant far more than any thank you or any words could say. It was in that moment that I came to truly understand the beauty and power of memories. I’ve been in the business of converting & preserving memories for almost four years now, but ever since that moment I see what I do differently. When I sit down with a client to work on their memory DVD I know that they are unlocking memories that have shaped their family and their lives beyond words and it makes me want to make that experience for them as good as possible. 

Giving someone the gift of a Memory DVD will be a gift they will most likely never forget. Putting together one of these DVDs involves some time and money but it can be created on a very small budget if you do it yourself.
