FAQ
Tell me about the length of the video using your models.
Our normal pricing includes a video up to 90 seconds using one model, talking about one URL.
For the same website, we will record up to three 30 second videos using the same model with no
changes in attire or apperance at regular undiscounted prices. Contact us for pricing on longer
videos or other variations.
What changes can I make to the video?
During the shoot we will be glad to make minor changes to the acting and speaking of the model.
Once the video has been shot we cannot make any further changes to the content of the video.
It is very important that the client review the appearance of the model, direction of walk in,
end position and pose as well as overall timing. Transparent floating videos need to be shot
entirely in one take without any cuts, fades and edits to look natural.
What are the options for displaying the video?
There are a number of options with respect to displaying your video on your website.
The most popular is to use our floating transparent javascript code that moves the video with
the page if the page is scrolled. The video can also be fixed at a specific loaction on
a page and although we can provide generic code to do this, your web programmer will
need to program it to fit your web page. The floating video can be placed either on the
left or right of the page, but must be determined prior to the shooting of the video
so that the model can walk in from the proper side. The right side tends to be more popular
because there are generally less links on the right side of a page and links under the video
are not active while the video is on the page.
Tell me more about full body vs partial body?
Since the video is being created for deployment on the web, size and bit rate are very important to
the overall quality of the video. Partial body videos will have greater detail particularly on
the face. Full body videos will have less clarity on the face and generally require a larger
file size which will affect playback on slow connections. We have optimised both types of videos
as you will see from the examples to load and play smoothly on a broadband connection without
sacrificing picture quality.
What impacts the quality of the playback of the video?
A number of factors impact the smoothness of the playback of the video. First the speed of
the connection of the viewer's computer is very important. A dial up connection will generally
not provide a smooth playback while most broadband connections will provide acceptable playback
quality. Congestion on the server(hosting) as well as the traffic on the internet can also impact
the playback and at high traffic times it is not uncommon for the video to stop and start
periodically. In order to ensure a high quality image we optimise our videos with bit rates
to be in the 250 to 400 mbps range. We use progressive download technology so that the video
starts playing as it is being downloaded. This allows the viewer to start seeing the video
without having to wait for it to download. If the playback is jerky, pausing the video for
a few seconds will generally give it time to spool ahead of playback.
How can I stop the video playing everytime I return to my home page?
The javascript code that we provide does have a variable for a cookie. Just activating this variable
by putting a cookie name will set the cookie to "session" status, which means that the video will only
play once per session(since the browser was loaded). We reccomend this setting for home pages, so that
the viewer is not bombarded by the video every time they return to the home page. We can by request,
change the cookie to a time base so that it only plays once per 7 days, or 30 days etc.
Does the video have to start automatically?
Occasionally concerns about audio in the workplace will cause a client to want the viewer
to activate the video rather than having it start automatically. This can be set in the javascript,
but we will need to create a splash screen to inform the viewer to press play to view the video.
This can be a generic screen or can be custom created using an image of the model, but must be
determined prior to shooting the video.
Tell me about your process and why your quality is so good.
We use a High Definition camera to shoot the video providing a very high resolution of source
video. We shoot the video in front of a retro reflective screen using a green light source.
We capture it in high definition into a computer and convert it to a progrssive video in a video
editing program. We then "key" it in another program designed for chroma keying. Chroma keying is the
process of removing a fixed color(we use green) from the video and replacing it with another, which in
our case is transparency. This process is very processor intensive particularly in high def.It is time
consuming and creates extremely large files (many gigabytes). We then convert the keyed file into a
flash video file which is also time consuming. A Flash video file cannot be edited so any changes to
the finished file will require us to go through the whole process again. We also code the javascript
and create a preview. Many other companies use standard definition which will key much faster but will
not be quite as crisp as a file created from high definition.
Are there any other options or restrictions to the video spokesperson video?
The model cannot wear green clothing and of course we do not offer any scantily dressed,
nude or indecent videos. We can add music to the video or place a logo behind the model,
have the model handle or demonstrate a product or process.
Our backdrop is 7ft by 7ft and all activity must be within that area.( sorry we cannot
shoot a full body video of the world's tallest man) Some options may require
an additional charge.
Will your code wotk on all computers?
We have tested our code & videos on Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari (Apple).
The viewer's computer must have the flash player to see the videos, but with flash being
so common today, almost every computer has it installed. If you are using complicated
code on your web site that may interfere with our code, your web programmer will have to
trouble shoot the code. Old computers with very slow processors may struggle to play the
video.
